Why can't a conventional cobble paver be used for heavy traffic?
Conventional light and medium traffic cobbles have no deep mechanical connection between pieces. Tegula-Tec's 3D interlocking geometry eliminates this by connecting pieces both horizontally and vertically.
What does the 3D interlock mean in practice?
Each piece connects to its neighbours in both the horizontal and vertical planes — not just side to side, but also up and down. This prevents any individual piece from displacing under load, which is what gives Tegula-Tec its structural performance at heavy traffic ratings.
Does Tegula-Tec look like a conventional cobblestone from above?
Yes. The engineering is entirely concealed within the interlocking geometry of each piece. The top face retains the classic roman cobblestone appearance.
